Exclusive Video Of Pico Projector in a Samsung W9600
Posted on January 17th, 2010 No commentsThe above video has surfaced on youtube recently showing the use of a Pico Projector within a mobile phone, this projector can reach up to 1.5m wide in viewing projected from inside the mobile. Although this is only new you can see that hopefully with new technology coming in pocket sized gadgets such as phones there is so much potential for new and exciting gadgets

Kodak Zi6 Review
Posted on January 13th, 2010 No commentsAlthough this gadget is quite old I thought I would give it a quick review just for AGeniusBlog
So at the moment you can buy these handy little HD camcorders for $159.95USD on the Kodak online store. The camera is quite handy although a tiny bit bulky it packs a lot of punch. It records on HD format 720p at 60 fps with 16:9 aspect ratio in MP4 format which allows you to import it into most movie editors (I personally used Camtasia for it) or use the bundled CD software to edit. It has some built in memory but memory is easily expandable with up to a 32GB SD card able to be added into it allowing it to store all your favourite memorys and change memory cards if you want to continue recording on the go.The camera records in 3 different video functions being HD at 60 fps, HD at 30 fps, or VGA. Allowing you to change the quality and speed for specific needs. It also allows you to switch into Photo mode allowing you to take 3MP photos using the camera.
It is quite easy to use, is on in seconds after to sliding the power switch and your on your way. Even though the files were a bit bulky because of the HD formatting it was well worth it with the camera outputting great quality videos, the only downside as other reviews have mentioned is this buzzy noise that you can hear quietly in videos for some reason and also that the camera is very shakey at times unless you are using a tripod.
I have had to oppourtunity to use both this camera and the Flip Mino HD. In comparasion I cannot see much difference between the video but prefer the Kodak Zi6 because of its larger screen and expandable memory. Although looking at the flips which are now coming in larger sizes then previous and are now available in New Zealand I may be speaking too early.
HD Camera users, whats your opinion?

Vestalife Ladybug II iPod Dock
Posted on January 13th, 2010 1 commentThe Vestalife Ladybug II is a unique iPod docking station that allows you to enhance how you would enjoy your portable music player. Its features allow you to use it for both iPod as well as iPhone models. It is uniquely distinguishable by its flip down speaker wings, giving it an interesting look for an ordinary docking station.
The Vestalife Ladybug II features a digital amp as well as a built-in subwoofer that gives its users better digital sound quality despite its size. And just like most docking stations, the Ladybug II also charges your iPod once it is docked into the unit. It also has a slot for an auxiliary-in jack to use for other non-docking CD and other mp3 players. A USB port is also available for connecting into your PC. The Vestalife Ladybug II is available at the VestaShop for US$100.

Tom Tom GPS – New Zealand – App Review
Posted on January 12th, 2010 3 comments
Recently I added to Tom Tom GPS (New Zealand Edition) application to my iPhone and I thought that I would write a small review on the application and show our readers what its like to use.
Some of the things I found really handy were that:
- The app’s Points of Interest (POI as described in applications) was great, giving the ability for the user to see either on the map, or within the menu allowing you to not only find the nearest motel, hotel, petrol station, supermarket or pharmacy but also it has an option (A green icon to the right) allowing you to call them with easy access. It also allows you to quickly change your route.
- The maps are all bundelled into the application meaning that you don’t use any mobile broadband usage.
- TomTom has a range of iPhone vent mounts that allow you to mount the iPhone onto your dashboard, apparently this has been quite controversial in regards to New Zealand’s new “No cellphone use while driving law” as it does sometimes require you to press a few buttons.
- The app is easy to use, although at times it didn’t have exact locations of where I wanted to go as long as I knew what road/Street/ect that the location was on it seemed to be ok.
A few things I didn’t like about the application as a whole:
- Someones it seems to put me off going to the right and off the road having to recalculate the location again, which even though it only took a few seconds sometimes was annoying when coming up to intersections.
- It didn’t always have the road/street I was looking for in the search option. But yet the road would appear on the GPS when I was there.
- I don’t know if this is a carrier fault, or how the GPS runs but even when I was in full reception I would have gaps where I had “No GPS reception” yet the Maps app on my iPhone could pick up my location fine.
Overall the App is worth the $99 (I think thats what it’s worth) and I would well recommend it over a normal GPS as its ultra portable, definatley worth the money that you pay for it, you have no need to buy more equipment and cables to add to your car while driving and also with the avaliblity of the mounts for iPhone it is by far the best option for a portable on the go navigational system.
