  • How to Shutdown Xp Faster

    Posted on July 31st, 2008 admin No comments

    Windows XP is a line of proprietary operating systems developed by Microsoft for use on general-purpose computer systems, including home and business desktops, notebook computers, and media centers.

    The Reason Why XP Takes Long To Shut Down, It Takes Long To Kill Apps

    To shut down Windows XP faster you need to do some changes in your registry.

    1. Click Start menu button -> Run…
    2. Type in regedit and hit Enter.

    3. Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER] -> [Control Panel] -> [Desktop].

    4. Now you must look for [HungAppTimeout] and [WaitToKillAppTimeout]. Make sure that [HungAppTimeout] is set to 5000.

    5. Double click [WaitToKillAppTimeout] and set its value to 4000.

    Click OK.
    5. Now navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> System -> CurrentControlSet -> Control.

    Shut Down XP Faster

    6. Double click WaitToKillServiceTimeout and set its value to 4000.

    Shut Down XP Faster

    Click OK.
    7. Restart your computer and next time you shut down it will be a lot faster.

    {2} Go To  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
    (there are alot of numbers, they are all in order of course)

    {3} Go to the LocalizedString Key

    {4} Rename the value [LocalizedString] to [LocalizedString.old] (or anything)

    {5} Right Click -> [New] ->  [Expandable String Value] ->  [LocalizedString]

    {6} Right Click On [Localized String]  -> [Modify] -> [Value data] – Put anything you like
