Confiker Virus: A not so funny April Fools Joke
Posted on May 15th, 2009 No commentsWell nearly every April fools, some stupid Virus releases, gives hell to your pc, and you hate it.
I was watching a news article on TV3 (NZ) About this “Confiker” Virus and what it does.
Apparently this viruses hacks into social networks, (and other websites) like Facebook, sends you messages which “apparently” come from your friend. It links you to a website, saying something like “Look, I caught you on video!” You, click it and It takes your information, stored passwords, keystrokes, etc.It seems to have actually released before april, as a dud, but as I hear, it was awaiting instructions from the hackers to trigger to activate on April 1st.
How many PC’s were infected?
From what I heard on the article, it was about 10 million! Scary

How can I check If I haven’t Got the virus?
Go to your start menu->run->
For XP users, Type in “mrt”
For Vista users, Type in “mrt.exe”
**Remember that you should have the program updated till April 2009**
Update is At the Microsoft Website

Remember to do a full PC scan with your Virus scanner, and have it updated
